"A 7.7 Earthquake hit the coast of British Columbia on Saturday night, and there has since been as many as 40 aftershocks today. Including one that measured 6.4 in magnitude. The quake sent many residents on the coast, fleeing for higher ground due to tsunami warnings. That where issued as far away as Hawaii.
The Earthquake originated on the island of Haida Gwaii, other wise know as the Queen Charlotte Islands region. The islands are located along the Queen Charlotte Fault, which is an active transform fault that produces significant earthquakes every 3–30 years. (the last major one happening in 1949, that measure 8.1 in magnitude)
As soon as I caught the news of this quake today, the first thing that came to mind was. Wasn’t Haida Gwaii recently in the news?

Major Quake M7.7, Queen Charlotte Is., 10/27/12 at 20:04 PDT. The epicenter is 175 mi. SSW of Ketchikan, 210 mi. NNW of Vancouver Island. The nearest populated area is the town of Queen Charlotte, about 30 mi. north of the quake. There has been one aftershock at M5.8.
P-wave arrived in Tempe, AZ at 20:09, shear wave at 20:14, and strong surface waves starting after 20:16 PDT. Distance from Tempe 1670 mi., depth 11 mi.

We went up to the St-Josephs where the preserved heart of Brother Andre is kept on display. It was a beautiful place, but we were more than a little weirded out by some of the stuff we saw there. Brother Andre Bessette has been credited with thousands of healing miracles and was known as Saint Andre of Montreal. He died in 1937 and was canonized in 2010.
